Body and
Mind
"The
miracle of love comes to us in the presence of the uninterpreted moment."
- Byron Katie
A few weeks ago, we talked about the
work of Dr. David Hawkins in establishing a scale that measures the
state of one's consciousness. Love is at the level of 500, about
half way up the scale, and according to Dr. Hawkins, no disease can
enter into or exist in the physical body of someone whose consciousness
level is consistently at this level or higher. Which, simply put, means
that the prevention and cure of disease is something we can accomplish
ourselves by going within and releasing the internal dis-ease we
experience by loving ourselves, others and every moment of our lives, no
matter what has happened in the past or is happening now. The word
'disease' itself shows exactly why disease arises - dis-ease or stress
about a situation experienced continuously causes our bodies to become
diseased. Even staunch advocates of modern allopathic medicine who
advocate external remedies for disease, such as drugs and surgery, now
acknowledge that stress is a major contributing factor to and an
inhibitor of recovery from all disease.
So how does one love and give thanks for whatever has happened and is
happening in your life, no matter how 'bad' these situations seem to be
to your limited rational mind? In going beyond the limiting and
limited judgments of the rational mind by quieting the mind in
meditation, relaxation, prayer or whatever particular method works
best for you, and contemplating in this relaxed state how whatever
situation that has been troubling you is actually a 'blesson' - a
blessing and a lesson in disguise - you will understand that the reason
every challenge arises in your life is precisely to help you realise
that to learn to love yourself, everything and everyone else is the
whole purpose of this brief earthly existence you are experiencing.
The only alternative is to argue with reality, in which case you lose
100% of the time!

Heart and Soul
"Neither
a lofty degree of intelligence, nor imagination, nor both together go to
the making of genius. Love, love, love, that is the soul of genius."
- Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Most of
us look at the lives of the great geniuses who have lived in the
past and present and wonder at them and how they did it. We
think that we, as mere mortals, could not hope to emulate their
genius and its seemingly miraculous feats. But the truth is that
we are all capable of amazing feats if we would simply live
in and through love, as Mozart, whose music is perhaps the
purest musical expression of love that has ever been composed,
says in the quote above. Even in a discipline as seemingly
rational and logical as mathematics, the surprising result of a
survey of America's most eminent mathematicians, including
Einstein, to find out their working methods, was that
thinking "plays only a subordinate part in the brief, decisive
phase of the creative act itself."
When we love what we do, we tap into creativity and
imagination from a source far deeper and infinitely more
powerful than our own minds are capable of when we are not
operating in a state of love. In fact, the reason we experience
joy when we do what we love and love what we do is because the
joy of our true nature, which is love, is being expressed in
what we do and the resultant creations.
The highest truth is that God is love, so to produce 'divine'
results, we must do our work with love and enjoy the process
rather than merely doing things to achieve an end result we see
as desirable, such as making money. Setting an end result as a
goal can add to the sense of enjoyment we experience in the
process by giving us enthusiasm for the work, provided
the end result we want to achieve does not overshadow the
enjoyment of the process and lead us to view the process as
merely an inconvenient way of getting to the desired end result
that, when achieved, will make us 'happy'. Relegating happiness
to a future time and making it conditional on your achieving or
having certain things is delusional and non-loving towards
yourself and others, and can only produce misery, unhappiness
and work totally devoid of the divine spark of genius inherent
in every one of us.

A photograph
of a water crystal that has been exposed to Mozart's music, then
frozen and magnified 500 times, is shown above. Note the beautiful pattern,
reflecting the love that Mozart felt while composing the music.
Contrast this with the photo of a water crystal exposed to heavy
metal music below and draw your own conclusions about the state
of consciousness of the composer and the musicians playing it!
