QUOTE OF THE
WEEK
"Once the last tree has been
cut down and the last river poisoned, you will find that you cannot eat
your
money.'' - American Indian proverb
Hi
Welcome to the 7th edition of the new Lifebuilder!
In this edition, we talk about how our collective unconscious thinking and
behaviour as a species has caused
global warming and the resultant
catastrophic consequences we are seeing today. However, it's not all
doom and gloom - as human beings, we have the
unique capacity to change ourselves and our behaviour, and we are all
being called to do that rather urgently or face the extinction of our
species and many others in the next century or two. If you are in
business, climate change represents both a threat and a massive
opportunity for those that take up the challenge and create solutions to
the massive problems we face - click
here to find out more about taking advantage of these
opportunities. So this edition of
Lifebuilder is deliberately a
call to action to find your inner balance and harmony, which will
lead to outer balance and harmony between you and nature.
Enjoy!

Body and
Mind
"What we are today comes from
our thoughts of yesterday, and our present thoughts build our life of
tomorrow. Our life is the creation of our mind."
- The Buddha
The world and the society we live in
today are the product of the collective past and present thoughts of
every human being who has ever lived on this planet, and our collective
thoughts of today shape the world and society we will live in tomorrow.
While this would appear to be a completely obvious and self-evident
truth, for most of mankind's history, the vast majority of people, most
of whom live today, have failed to truly realise or live their lives
according to this timeless principle. This explains why the world today,
particularly the natural environment, which we focus on in this issue,
is in such a 'mess' - it's a simple matter of GIGO, or Garbage
In, Garbage Out.
The majority of people think predominantly negative, selfish,
destructive thoughts and take actions based on these thoughts that
are in their best interests without giving any thought for the
consequences of their actions for other people and particularly, other
living things with which we share this planet. As a result, mankind has
systematically polluted and destroyed the environment in which we live
and that ultimately supports all life, including, ironically, our own,
over the last 10,000 or so years of 'civilisation'. With the advent of
the Industrial Revolution, the impact on the planet of man's
unconsciousness has been magnified a thousandfold, so that today we face
a global warming crisis that threatens to end humanity's
brief tenure on this planet and that of a large number of plant and
animal species along with us in the next hundred to two hundred years if
we don't radically change our thinking and behaviour.

Heart and Soul
"The
degree to which we can develop world community and thereby save our
skins is going to depend
primarily on the degree to which we human beings can learn to empty
ourselves."
-
M. Scott Peck
(from 'A Different Drum')
Man is different from animals and plants in that we have the capacity
for self-awareness - the ability to be aware of who we truly are and
what we think and do at every moment. This is both a blessing and a
curse. We have the potential within us to experience unlimited bliss and
joy that no animal or plant acting purely instinctively can possibly
experience, but we also have the capacity to think and do unspeakably
cruel, destructive, negative things that no animal could even conceive
of. Self-awareness means we have choice or free will, which we can
exercise to either raise or lower our consciousness. We can choose to
empty ourselves of all the 'garbage' that continuously fills most of our
minds - thoughts of fear, desire, greed, selfishness, anger, hate, pride
and all the other unconscious thoughts that produce the negative
emotions and circumstances that have always bedeviled man.
In clearing out this garbage from our minds by exercising our capacity
for self-awareness, we make space for love, joy, bliss, peace,
serenity and all the other positive qualities, which come from our
true and essential nature, to flow into our hearts and minds. We
then see ourselves as intimately connected with everyone and everything
else in this world and universe, our behaviour changes to reflect this
higher community consciousness, which in simpler terms could just be
called 'love', and we start to act with an inherent understanding
of the impact of our actions on the whole community in which we live
that we call 'Earth' instead of from an entirely selfish, egocentric
understanding of 'What's In It For Me'. This shift unleashes energy of a
much higher frequency and vibration into our lives and the world, and it
is this incredibly powerful positive energy that can heal and mend the
damage we have done to ourselves, our lives and life on this planet.
Because the stakes are so high, this Lifebuilder
is deliberately an aggressive call to action, not a nice positive,
inoffensive message that you just read, delete and forget about almost
instantly. Are you prepared to face the
Inconvenient Truth and act on it to change how you live?
Or, stated slightly differently, will you choose to be part of the
solution, the new wave of higher consciousness that is swelling in the
world right now, or part of the problem, the old, negative patterns of
thinking and behaviour that have created the massive challenge we
collectively now face? Can you find balance and harmony in your own life
and your lifestyle, and be part of the restoration of harmony between
man and nature?
