Lifebuilder Monthly - Edition 25 (31/08/2007)

Create a Life of Balanced Success

                                                                    QUOTE OF THE WEEK

“A healthy environment is not only a constitutional right in South Africa, but fundamental for a vital
 society and a sustained economy.”
-
Bjørn Heyerdahl

Hi

Welcome to this edition of Lifebuilder! In this edition, we talk about how our collective unconscious thinking and behaviour as a species has caused global warming and the resultant catastrophic consequences we are seeing today. However, it's not all doom and gloom - as human beings, we have the unique capacity to change ourselves and our behaviour, and we all need to do this rather urgently or face the extinction of our species and many others in the next century or two. If you are in business, climate change represents both a threat and a massive opportunity for those that take up the challenge and create solutions to the massive problems we face. So this edition of Lifebuilder is deliberately a call to action to find your inner balance and harmony, which will lead to outer balance and harmony between you and nature.

One of the actions you can take is to c
ome to one of the regular Lifebuilder talks we will be hosting every Monday in September in Sandton, as this month we have a number of speakers focusing on the environment and how we can live sustainably in our environment - see the Events section below for more information about these talks and a mini-seminar run by the Lifebuild Property Investment Network (PIN) every Wednesday evening in Sandton. We hope to see you at one of these talks. Enjoy this edition in the mean time!

The talk will be given by Bjørn Heyerdahl, a passionate environmentalist, adventurer and humanist, on Sustainable Living in Today’s World. Bjørn has been the guiding force behind the establishment of a number of self-sustaining communities in South Africa through his organisation Midgard. Midgard is currently busy creating a completely self-reliant sustainable and environmentally friendly community that generates its own electricity and water in Fourways. (See below my signature for more information about Bjørn and Midgard).

Global warming is a threat to all life on Earth, so it is every person’s moral responsibility to do everything in their power to stop it. Even if you could not care about the environment at all, with power cuts becoming an ever-increasing phenomenon and severe water shortages being predicted, it makes practical and economic sense to become as self-reliant as possible. However, you may not know how to go about living sustainably. If so, come and listen to Bjørn and his team of experts who will be there to answer any questions you have on Monday evening. Click here and send the email that pops up to book your seat for this event now. If you can’t come on Monday and would like to find out more about global warming and what you can do about it, click here.

Investment: R50 (includes tea, coffee and sandwiches at the break)

Claire Janisch, an environmental engineer, independent environmental sustainability consultant and co-founder of the Genius Lab, speaks about the principles and practice of eco-innovation - how nature is inspiring innovation in technology, buildings, city design and almost all aspects of design.

Here's what a few people have said about Claire's talks:

“I found Claire's session fascinating, mind-expanding and so relevant. My wish is that this is extended to as many people who are open to radical new thinking as possible. It can only excite and motivate people to start doing some radical new thinking on their own or in small groups. I for one would attend again and I have at least a dozen people I would invite to go with me.” - Anthony Duigan, Managing Director, JCP (SA) Pty Ltd, Chairman: National Association of Conservancies of South Africa

'Your presentation …was fantastic – I'm so grateful for being able to share in your extraordinary vision and grasp. I feel as though I'm embarking on a new and very exciting cycle of learning, through which I will inevitably re-make my understanding of what sustainability is (or needs to be) about and how I can communicate that'. - Peter Willis, Director (Southern Africa) Business and the Environment Programme – University of Cambridge Programme for industry

Lifebuilder Talk - 'Slave Species of god (Part 2) - What next?'

Date: Monday, 17 September
Time: 6 - 8 p.m.
Venue: FNB Conference Centre, 114 Grayston Drive, Sandton
Investment: R50 (includes tea, coffee and sandwiches at the break)

Michael Tellenger talks about his bestselling and highly controversial book, Slave Species of god, and its profound implications for our understanding of ourselves and life. In this fascinating talk, he will ask and answer a number of questions man has been asking since homo sapiens first became a conscious species, such as:

• What do we really know about our human origins?
• Where did mankind suddenly appear from around 250,000 years ago?
• Why have humans always been so obsessed with gold?
• Why is the flying serpent the creator god in most mythologies?
• Why do human beings use less than 3% of our DNA's intelligent capacity, far less than any other species?

Michael draws on science, genetics, ancient history, religion and astronomy to reveal the shocking truth behind our human origins. If you are at all curious about where we as a species came from and what the future holds for us, do not miss this talk. He will also be talking about where we go from here as a species and discuss the rapid emergence of a post-capitalist society where the majority of people finally free themselves from their slave consciousness and humanity evolves into a far more advanced and nicer species. If you are at all curious about what lies ahead for humanity as a species, do not miss this talk!

Here's what a few people have said about Slave Species of god:

"This will be an American bestseller. Once I started reading I could not stop" - Rob McConnell, TalkStar Radio Network

"Get hold of this book and devour – if you are a scholar of life, this book should be your companion!" - Fiona Ramsay, SAfm Nationwide Radio

"One of the most riveting books I have ever read. Non-fiction written with the fast pace of a best-seller novel. It asks and answers questions that we were taught should not be asked. The author’s passion absorbs the reader from page 1." - Glenn Lewington, World Today, SABC3 TV

"Slave Species of god" is so much more than an eye opening story that tugs at your educated beliefs, it is an entertaining and captivating read. Michael Tellinger takes us beyond our taught beliefs and leads us on a quest for the truth based on scientific fact - a journey totally unlike anything we have been taught to believe. What a trip! What a read!" - Francois Vorster, Ananzi

Lifebuilder Talk - 'Heal Your Body Through Ozone Therapy'

Date: Monday, 24 September
Time: 6 - 8 p.m.
Venue: FNB Conference Centre, 114 Grayston Drive, Sandton
Investment: R50 (includes tea, coffee and sandwiches at the break)

Ozone therapy is a revolutionary medical treatment that introduces ozone into the human body. Ozone is O3, whereas the oxygen we breathe is O2. Ozone has been used successfully around the world for over 80 years to treat over 150 diseases, including cancer, AIDS, diabetes, stroke, depression, chronic fatigue, lupus and fibromyalgia. In some clinics around the world, ozone is the first agent given to each and every patient that enters the clinic regardless of their ailments. Ozone addresses the key issues in almost all disease conditions, which is why it is so effective. These are: oxygen delivery, circulation and immune system function. Ozone Therapy's proven beneficial effects include:

* Increasing oxygen supply to cells, tissues and organs
* Increasing blood circulation throughout the body
* Detoxification
* Boosting of the immune system

and many more. Elaine Young, an expert on ozone therapy, will speak about all the benefits of ozone therapy and be available to answer any questions you may have. Click here and send the email that pops up to book your seat for this talk now.

The Karma of Climate Change

"What we are today comes from our thoughts of yesterday, and our present thoughts build our life of
tomorrow. Our life is the creation of our mind."
- The Buddha

"The degree to which we can develop world community and thereby save our skins is going to depend
primarily on the degree to which we human beings can learn to empty ourselves."

                                                                                                                     - M. Scott Peck (from 'A Different Drum')

The world and the society we live in today are the product of the collective past and present thoughts of every human being who has ever lived on this planet, and our collective thoughts of today shape the world and society we will live in tomorrow. While this would appear to be a completely obvious and self-evident truth, for most of mankind's history, the vast majority of people, most of whom live today, have failed to truly realise or live their lives according to this timeless principle. This explains why the world today, particularly the natural environment, which we focus on in this issue, is in such a 'mess' - it's a simple matter of GIGO, or Garbage In, Garbage Out.

The majority of people think predominantly negative, selfish, destructive thoughts and take actions based on these thoughts that are in their best interests without giving any thought for the consequences of their actions for other people and particularly, other living things with which we share this planet. As a result, mankind has systematically polluted and destroyed the environment in which we live and that ultimately supports all life, including, ironically, our own, over the last 10,000 or so years of 'civilisation'. With the advent of the Industrial Revolution, the impact on the planet of man's unconsciousness has been magnified a thousandfold, so that today we face a global warming crisis that threatens to end humanity's brief tenure on this planet and that of a large number of plant and animal species along with us in the next hundred or so years if we don't radically change our thinking and behaviour. Click here to find out more about what is, for most people, a rather inconvenient truth, see the movie 'An Inconvenient Truth', or come to one of our Lifebuilder talks in September that deals with the issue of climate change and what we can do about it (see the 'Events' section above for all the details)

Man is different from animals and plants in that we have the capacity for self-awareness - the ability to be aware of who we truly are and what we think and do at every moment. This is both a blessing and a curse. We have the potential within us to experience unlimited bliss and joy that no animal or plant acting purely instinctively can possibly experience, but we also have the capacity to think and do unspeakably cruel, destructive, negative things that no animal could even conceive of. Self-awareness means we have choice or free will, which we can exercise to either raise or lower our consciousness. We can choose to empty ourselves of all the 'garbage' that continuously fills most people's minds - thoughts of fear, desire, greed, selfishness, anger, hate, pride and all the other unconscious thoughts that produce the negative emotions and circumstances that have always bedeviled man.

In clearing out this garbage from our minds by exercising our capacity for self-awareness, we make space for love, joy, bliss, peace, serenity and all the other positive qualities, which come from our true and essential nature, to flow into our hearts and minds. We then see ourselves as intimately connected with everyone and everything else in this world and universe, our behaviour changes to reflect this higher community consciousness, which in simpler terms could just be called 'love', and we start to act with an inherent understanding of the impact of our actions on the whole community in which we live that we call 'Earth' instead of from an entirely selfish, egocentric understanding of 'What's In It For Me'. This shift unleashes energy of a much higher frequency and vibration into our lives and the world, and it is this incredibly powerful positive energy that can heal and mend the damage we have done to ourselves, our lives and life on this planet.

Because the stakes are so high, this Lifebuilder is deliberately an aggressive call to action, not a nice positive, inoffensive message that you just read, delete and forget about almost instantly. Are you prepared to face the Inconvenient Truth and act on it to change how you live? Or, stated slightly differently, will you choose to be part of the solution, the new wave of higher consciousness that is growing in the world right now as a result of climate change and other factors, or part of the problem, the old, negative patterns of thinking and behaviour that have created the massive challenge we collectively now face? Can you find balance and harmony in your own life and your lifestyle and be part of the restoration of harmony between man and nature that will see humanity let go of the baggage of negative karma we have collectively created and move into an age of truly conscious living where we are able to live harmoniously with all other life on Earth
