Hi, welcome to Lifebuilder!

I spent most of my school career in anticipation of the following year. I was so focused on the goal of passing exams and moving on to the next grade that the present became little more than a means to an end. When I left school and went to university, I focused on graduating, when I left university, I set my sights on finishing my travels and starting work. What a waste of life! 

It seems I’m not the only one. Psychologists asked 3,000 people from all walks of life what they had to live for. Over 90% of them said they were waiting for something to happen, such as a holiday, marriage, divorce, children or a new job. The present was something they saw as only a way to get to their imaginary future.

The problem is that the future never comes, but death does – at any moment. That’s why this moment is the most important. Even the thought of death doesn’t stop people from losing the present. "After death," they comfort themselves, "there’s heaven". They don’t realise that heaven will be horrific - they’ll have nothing else to look forward to! The truth is, heaven is now. Hell is running from now.
