                                                 QUOTE OF THE WEEK

Inspiration:
(1) A sudden brilliant idea (2) Divine influence (3) Inhalation

Welcome to Lifebuilder!

It's no wonder that inspiration refers to both a great idea and inhalation. Without sufficient oxygen, the brain and body are deprived of this vital fuel and great ideas and performances never happen. Sadly, most of us are oxygen-starved, using less than a third of our full lung capacity.

BUILD YOUR LIFE

DE-STRESS WITH BREATH

  • Set aside two minutes at regular periods during your day for deep, nasal breathing. (Office romance does not count!)
  • Try breathing in and out through your nose when you exercise next. Slow your normal pace if you feel you are not getting enough air. Click here if you want personal instruction in how to breathe like this when you exercise.
  • When breathing correctly, your shoulders should not rise up on inhalation. Rather, as you breathe in through your nose, your abdomen should expand, engaging your diaphragm and drawing the air down into the deepest part of your lungs.

Oxygen accounts for 80% of the human body. It’s our most important ‘natural drug’. Healthy cells deprived of oxygen go malignant. A deep, diaphragmatic breath creates a vacuum that literally sucks impurities out of the blood stream. Deep breathing has been found to reduce the effects of migraine headaches, chronic pain, high blood pressure, panic attacks, stress, anxiety and the shock of hearing a South African expressing optimism about his country! It is almost impossible to feel stressed when you breathe deeply, slowly and regularly through your nose.

Two weeks ago, we gave some tips to help you to love exercise. Deep, diaphragmatic breathing during exercise is probably the most important of these. Breathing correctly makes exercise of any kind far more enjoyable and leads to significantly better performance.
